Biography

I grew up on a farm in a small community by the name of Tustin, Michigan. Upon graduation from Pine River High School in 2013, I attended the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and attained my B.S., majoring in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCN) in 2017. Upon graduation, I took a gap-year to work/repay student loans and mentally prepare for medical school. The following spring, I began medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSU SOM) and graduated with the class of 2022.

I am beyond proud to match at Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM). I was blown away by our facility as a medical student. We are a stand-alone hospital with a large portion of our first floor being a community gym/outpatient gym with great equipment (shout-out Cybex). As a competitive bodybuilder, being able to lift before or after work in my hospital has been incredible. Aside from my personal gym interests, our in-patient rotations offer a great opportunity to become well-rounded physiatrists. Our facility has floors decided to TBI/Stroke, SCI, and general rehab. RIM has been ranked as one of the nation's top inpatient rehab facilities on Newsweek's list of America's Best Physical Rehab Centers 2022 and I'm thankful to be a part of the work we do for our patients.

Outside of medicine; I love weightlifting, being with my spouse, and hanging with my dog (Wayne). Detroit has been my home for the last nine years and I love it here. This city has given me incredible opportunities to learn, grow, and have some fun along the way. Fun fact: I'm fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)and routinely use it with friends and patients!
