Medical Student Rotations

If interested in a student rotation, WSU students contact WSU Student Services. Outside rotators use VSAS.

Survey PM&R Rotation available to year 3 and 4 medical students:

This four-week course is designed as a broad overview of PM&R practice for students interested in residency training in the specialty or closely associated field. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is the medical specialty that emphasizes the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders that may cause temporary or permanent disability and impairment

The rotation will be spent as a member of the inpatient and outpatient physiatry teams, where students will help care for patients in acute rehabilitation, such as stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injury.

The student will have the opportunity to independently assess patients.  These patients will then be reviewed in detail by the attending physician and appropriate examination techniques, diagnostic problem-solving methods, and treatment plans will be discussed with the student.

The didactic series is inclusive of the medical student rotation which provides four hours of resident lectures per week. Lectures are provided by PM&R faculty, outside faculty, and health professionals.
